This monument became one of the symbols of Samara.
During the Second World War, IL-2, the battle plane which was nicknamed the flying tank was produced on the factories of Samara. This monument depicts a workman holding wings on his arms and it was designed to symbolize the contribution made by Samara to aircraft industry. But most of the citizens are ignorant about the origin of the monument. Some consider it a man stolen a goose and wonder which way it was possible to build such a monument during Soviet Era.
